The Kiwi fruit Juice Ingredients

Kiwi fruits

Pick ripe kiwis that are slightly soft to the touch.

There are two varieties of kiwifruits in the market - green and yellow. The color difference indicates the presence of chlorophyll. While green kiwis contain a green pigment, yellow, do not. In addition, green kiwis are sweet and tangy with high juice content making them a perfect choice for juicing. On the other hand, the golden kiwi fruit is sweeter with lower juice content.

Sweetener - optional

Ripe kiwi fruits are naturally sweet, so you don't need additional sweeteners. However, if you pick unripe sour kiwis, you may need to add a natural sweetener to balance the tartness. You can use liquid sweeteners like maple syrup, honey, agave, or brown sugar.

How To Make Fresh Kiwi Juice?

First step - prepare kiwis.

First, gather ripe kiwi fruit and wash them thoroughly. I juice the kiwis with the skin as the kiwi skin is edible and contains a high fiber that adds additional benefits. In that case, use organic produce. However, you can peel the skin off if you prefer. Next, cut the kiwis into small pieces.

Second step - juice them.

Some people prefer their kiwi juice pulpy, while others prefer it to be more smooth.

Using an immersion blender

Place all the kiwis in a bowl (when using an immersion blender) orblenduntil smooth.

Blend the kiwis on high speed until you get a smooth consistency. This may take around 1-2 minutes, depending on the power of your blender. First, check the consistency of the juice. You can dilute it with a cup of water, sparkling water, coconut milk, or apple juice to thin it out if it's too thick. Alternatively, add a few ice cubes to make the juice cooler and more refreshing. Blend until smooth to incorporate the ice cubes. Blending retains the fiber and nutrients and the seeds in this freshjuice adda great texture.

To make pulp-free kiwi juice, you can strain the seeds and pulp. Use a cheesecloth or nut milk bag and squeeze out as much liquid as possible. Alternatively, use a fine mesh strainer and press on the pulp to push through the liquid.

Using juicer

A juicer automatically separates the juice from the fibrous pulp making the juice pure and smooth. I use this juice extractor to add veggies like carrots, beetroot, celery, or fruits (oranges or apples) to the blend. Cut the kiwi into small pieces to fit and juice the juicer chute. You will have a smooth juice free of pulp or tiny black seeds.

Third step - Serve it

Pour the juice into a glass and serve it fresh to retain its freshness and flavor. Some people prefer to serve it chilled, so refrigerate it for at least 30 minutes before serving. Its vibrant green color looks best in a tall clear glass with a straw. For an extra pop of color and flavor, garnish the green juice with slices of fresh fruit like kiwi, strawberries, or lime. Remember to stir it well before serving to ensure the pulp and juice are well mixed.

How much kiwi juice should you drink?

While kiwi juice is healthy and nutritious, drinking it in moderation is key.

One kiwi fruit contains about 2 grams of fiber and 64 milligrams of vitamin C, which is about 70% of the recommended daily intake. Therefore, consuming 1-2 kiwi fruit per day is a healthy addition to your diet. More than that can lead to gastrointestinal discomfort due to its high fiber content.

How to store leftover kiwi juice?

For the best practice, you can store the fresh fruit juice in a refrigerator in an airtight glass container and consume it within 24 hours for the best flavor and nutrient levels. After this time, it may start to lose its flavor and nutrients. If you want to store kiwi juice for longer, you can freeze it in an airtight container or ice cube tray for up to 3 months. Be sure to thaw the juice in the refrigerator before consuming it.

What to do with the leftover pulp?

Don't throw away the leftover pulp. Instead, you can freeze and add it to smoothieslater on for extra fiber.

Or use it in baking recipes, such as muffins, cakes, and bread. The pulp can add moisture and flavor to your baked goods.

Alternatively, compost it. The pulp is biodegradable and will break down over time, adding nutrients to your soil.
